The Hidden Waterfalls Tour is truly unique, taking you off the beaten track into untouched parts of El Salvador. You’ll be exploring deep inside the countries largest national park, El Imposible, where your expert guides will take you through a secret path that leads to a series of cliff jumps, natural slides and jaw dropping views.

  • After meeting the guide in ataco, you’ll hop in the back of a 4x4 pickup truck and start the drive up into the mountains. If the weather is right, you’ll stop at a view point along the way to see 3 famous Guatemalan volcanoes (Acatenango, Fuego and Agua). You will arrive at the starting point of the hike in around 45 minutes and your experienced guide will give you a short safety talk before you begin the adventure.

    Clearing the way with his giant machete, he will teach you about the medicinal end edible plants of the park. Pay attention though, as there may be a prize up for grabs at the end of the tour!

    After around an hour, you’ll begin the real adventure! Beginning with a small 2 meter jump into the fresh water to wake you up. The jumps will gradually increase in height but are all optional, with the cave being the exception, here you will have to rappel down if you don’t want to jump!

    By now you’ll have worked up an appetite just in time for a delicious lunch in the mountains consisting of corn tortillas and freshly made guacamole, along with some tropical fruit.

    After your stomachs are full, you’ll continue the adventure with a natural rock slide before arriving at the top of El Perol, the parks biggest waterfall at massive 35 meters(115ft) tall. Once arriving at the bottom, you will have time to relax, swim and watching the locos of the group do some more cliff jumping (from 5-13 meters)!!

    When you’re ready, we you’ll begin the ascent through the jungle back to the starting point. This hike will get you working up a thirst and usually takes around 45 minutes, but don’t be alarmed as we can take as many breaks as you like and there will be an ice cold drink waiting for you when you arrive!

    Your driver will now take you back to the meeting point in Ataco, where you’ll sadly part ways with our team and your new friends after possibly your favourite day in El Salvador.

  • Our tour has been enjoyed by people of all ages from 5 to 75, but we still want to make sure everyone is prepared for the adventure ahead.

    • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult

    • A reasonable level of fitness as there is some uphill hiking involved
